FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 Questions That Customers Have Asked

Are your keepsakes sealed?

Only inlay rings and inlay cuff bracelets are sealed. When the sealant is applied to the horse hair it darkens the hair and gives the hair a glossy look. You may choose to skip the sealing process, which leaves the hair closer to your horses natural hair color. Unsealed keepsakes are unprotected, and susceptible to damage. We recommend sealing the keepsake.

Can you combine several horses in a keepsake?
Absolutely!! The most horses I have ever combined was 20.

I am having a hard time getting my bracelet on with one hand. Is there an easy way to get it on?
Yes, it can be hard to put the bracelet on with one hand. The horse hair is stiff and does not lay flat on your wrist when putting it on. That is one reason I add a big O ring to connect with the lobster claw. This is how I put mine on: I lay my wrist down on my bracelet on my leg with the o ring sticking up and then connect the claw to the ring. Takes a little practice. If I am in a hurry I just ask my husband to help!!😉

Why do I need to have a keepsake made now, because my horse has not died yet? It is VERY HARD for some of us to touch the hair or even look at it after they are gone. If you have lost a horse you know exactly what I am talking about That is why I give specific instructions to collect hair when they are alive. It’s so much easier.

Do I need to wash the horse hair before I mail it to you?
No, I use special shampoo and conditioner to clean and preserve the hair.

Will you send back any of the hair that you don’t use?
Yes, if requested to send back to the customer.

Do I need to pay you before you complete my order?
No, I want to make sure you are completely satisfied with your keepsake. I will send pictures and we will communicate back and forth to make sure you are happy. After you are satisfied, then you can pay with check, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or Cash.app.

Can you make one keepsake from several horses’ hair?
Absolutely!!

How long does it take to make a keepsake?
Usually each one takes about five hours to make. The most time consuming part is separating the hair and getting it the correct length.

How long will it take to complete the order?
It usually takes me about 3 days to complete the order unless there are orders that were before you. It may take longer around holidays.

What if I would really like a keepsake made from my horse, but I just can’t bear to open the bag or box to prepare the mane or tail to send to you?
This is so very common with my customers and people who have lost their precious horses. This hurt is only understood by a horse lover. You can place the entire tail in a box or envelope and mail to me. Or you can have a loved one do that for you. Totally understand this pain and hurt. If you would like I can also mail the remaining hair back to you when I have completed the keepsake.

I can’t find your address to mail the hair to you.
There is a contact me on the website. When you are ready to mail the horse hair just contact me and I will send you my address. Security purposes. Email: lisamr85@gmail.com

What if the Post Office loses my horse’s hair?
There is always a chance this can happen. Make sure you check my address carefully and that you have your return address that is correct also. Please keep a small amount of hair just in case.

Will my keepsake fray or break?
Please remember the hair is a natural material. Treat it like you would an expensive piece of jewelry. I have made every effort to try to create my keepsakes with quality trying to use materials that will last and not tarnish. Please check out the Code of Care instructions for further info.
