International Mailing Tips
When mailing Horse hair to us, the following tips are provided to assist in getting the package through USA Customs. Several customers have had their package returned because the description on the customs form was too vague.
Wash and dry your horse hair so you can meet the following requirements. Package the hair in a zip lock type bag.
Postal/mailing requirements
USPS international rules allow certain animal-derived materials if they are fully dried or cured, have no offensive odor, and are properly packaged and labeled; this is analogous to how they treat hides, skins, and furs.
The customs declaration must clearly state what is inside (e.g., “dried, cleaned horsehair for craft use,” non‑hazardous) and show exporter/importer names and addresses.
